Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2011-2012 academic year! 

As it has in the past, P.S. # 5 will continue to provide each and every one of our students with the tools necessary to meet the challenges of today’s ever-changing society.    

Day after day our teachers expertly challenge our pupils to go the extra mile and stimulate their intellectual curiosity by providing a strong academic program where our students can achieve their personal best.  

The school administration recognizes the need for our students to be commended for their efforts and has instituted a “Student of the Month” program, as well as, an “End of the Year Awards” program where children are recognized for their outstanding achievement in numerous disciplines and activities.   

Our parents, as partners in their children’s education, closely monitor their children’s progress, wholeheartedly support our programs and take full advantage of our “Open Door” policy by contacting the teachers, the administration, the school Social Worker and the nurse whenever warranted. 

All of us, the stakeholders of P.S. # 5, agree that excellence and success can only be achieved when we set high expectations for our students, hold ourselves up to the highest of standards and provide our students with a safe and nurturing learning environment.
