Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2010-2011 academic year, 

Public School Number Five will continue its tradition of providing the students in our community with the tools necessary to become successful citizens.  We believe that the main goal of an elementary school is to help children develop the skills necessary for them to become effective problem solvers and critical thinkers, as well as instilling in them, the importance of individual worth and mutual respect.  

We are very fortunate to have a very experienced and dedicated staff that along with the school administration is committed to ensuring that every child in our school is afforded with the opportunity to reach his or her fullest potential.  

All parents are encouraged to become active partners in their child’s education by maintaining an open dialog with their child’s teacher(s), attending the PTO meetings and reaching out to one of the administrators, the nurse or the school social worker as the need arises.
