October 2008
In celebration of Columbus Day, the students of
Public School No.2 held an assembly for the entire student body,
where they showed an animated film about Christopher Columbus. Arts
students from the sixth grade also worked in collaboration with
students in the third grade to host a Columbus Day Storyboard art
exhibition.
Third grade students acted as orators and
performed readings about Christopher Columbus, while the sixth
graders displayed their works of art in honor of Columbus Day. The
sixth grade students created maps of the New World, which were drawn
up after Columbus’ discovery. The art students also used class
techniques to age the maps and make them appear authentic.
