Public School No.1 thrives on excellence! Its dedicated faculty,
staff, and I are committed to such excellence bringing the best
possible education to our students. At Public School No.1, we look
forward to meeting the challenges of the future. As we continue to
maximize their ability to succeed in this ever changing world, our
goal is to provide a vibrant and responsive public education system
that produces well rounded citizens with the capability and
confidence to succeed in the 21st Century.
Maintaining high academic standards leading to mastery of the Core
Curriculum Content Standards, which the state of New Jersey has
deemed essential to the education of each of our students, requires
a well thought-out plan for success. This plan includes before and
after school tutorial programs, which address math, language arts,
and science. Open access to the computer lab is also provided before
and after school. Basic Skills and Bilingual programs provide extra
help to qualified students during the regular school day. A Gifted
and Talented enrichment program is in place for outstanding
students. This enrichment program exposes students to alternative
learning experiences, which include project based work and hands-on
experiences. Promoting leadership skills, building self-esteem and
good moral character is the goal of the Peer and Rainbows programs
under the supervision of specially trained teachers. An integral
part of this plan is the active role played by the parents, as
exhibited by the highly attended P.T.O. meetings. These programs are
the continued march towards excellence at Public School No.1.
Public School No.1 is now a High Performing School. In
addition, Public School No.1 was recognized with the Silver
National Recognition Award for a Healthier Generation, founded
by the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton
Foundation. This award is one of two in the entire state of New
Jersey. – CONGRATULATIONS!
Our belief is that all our children can succeed and our commitment
to addressing their individual need is our goal. Public School No.1
will continue to foster these goals in order to produce healthy,
happy, and educated children today who will become the leaders of
tomorrow.
