This year we will be embarking on a new adventure through the Star-W Project Program. What is Star-W you might ask? Star-W is a competitive grant sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Education to foster the use of technology in Language Arts Literacy.
Through this grant we were able to receive laptop computers, that are shared by the third, fourth , and fifth grade students. The students are given assignments by their classroom teachers concerning a certain unit of study. This will incorporate all areas of language arts and at times mathematics.
This year we will be focusing on our community. We will be exploring the way in which a community is shaped by the people who live there, the local leaders, and the structure of the community itself. We will be visiting the different agencies of our town, and talking with the leaders who will explain first hand what their jobs entail.
